Should wood be phased out from electric and district heating?
Ny analysis from the Green Transition Denmark shows that phasing out Danish wood from electricity and district heating production from 2030 is a major and cheap climate measure in relation to the new climate target for 2035. The government wants to stop importing wood. But wood accounts for 17% of energy consumption, so phasing out will require large new investments in wind and heat pumps, and will create losses for both forest owners and companies with newer wood energy plants.
