We cannot do without buildings. We live, stay and work in them all our lives. But buildings are associated with a large climate and resource load. At the same time, the war in Ukraine has made it very clear how important it is that we make ourselves independent of gas and oil from Russia. In that light, we need to do something about how we heat our buildings, how we use energy, how we build them and what materials we use.

The way forward for this green conversion of buildings goes largely through the EU, which sets rules, frameworks and points the way forward. This happens, among other things, in the building directive, the energy efficiency directive and the chemical legislation REACH.
