Healthy air – Air pollution, health effects and solutions
How do we reduce air pollution from traffic and wood-burning stoves? How do we get cleaner air in Denmark? - get answers to this and much more, 15 May.
Every year around 4.000 Danes die prematurely from outdoor air pollution. This corresponds to 7 percent of all Danish deaths. This makes outdoor air pollution the Danes' third biggest risk factor in relation to mortality, surpassed only by smoking and physical inactivity. But unlike smoking and physical inactivity, we are not in control of how much air pollution we inhale when we are outdoors. Therefore, political action is necessary both in the UN, the EU, the Danish Parliament and in the individual municipality and household, so that air pollution can be reduced for the benefit of public health.
