A clean sea for everyone

Denmark is surrounded by sea. An ocean that many of us have a strong attachment to. But beneath the surface, problems are growing. The marine environment is under pressure from many sides.

In the Green Transition Denmark, we focus on a number of pressure factors, including pollution with nutrients from agriculture as well as environmentally harmful chemicals from shipping in particular and our inappropriate consumption pattern.

The sea's poor environmental condition affects both ecosystems, tourism and business. And if we are to continue to benefit from the sea's resources, we must make demands on our use of and discharge to the sea. Therefore, with the project 'A clean sea for all', we are giving impetus to the processes which, in the Danish context, must improve the condition of the sea and ensure a clean marine environment of the future.

We focus sharply on a number of areas that contribute to the pollution of the sea, just as we seek influence on the relevant decision-making processes through mediation and dialogue with decision-makers in the entire range from private actors, municipal development projects, over the national regulation to the processes in the EU and IMO.
