Future Energy DK2040
How do we accelerate the transition to an absolutely sustainable energy system in Denmark, which in 2040 is based on 100 per cent renewable energy and is without fossil fuels and wood-based biomass?
Can we achieve the goal with a new generation of energy savings, a rapid scale-up with clean renewable energy, heat pumps, geothermal energy, new smart grids and green e-fuels, while at the same time securing the climate, biodiversity and resource consumption within planetary limits? No one has yet given a solid and well-thought-out answer to this.
Green Transition Denmark, Vestas, Google, Grundfos, Danfoss, Innargy, Better Energy, Norlys and COWI have therefore teamed up in the project "Future Energy DK2040", which will provide decision-makers with a roadmap so that Denmark can become a leading country for the green energy system of the future and used as one show case for the rest of the EU.
The roadmap must, among other things, be an important strategic input for political negotiations and the long-term energy plans towards 2050 in Denmark and the EU.
In collaboration with EA-Energyanalyse, a larger analysis project is being launched that addresses both the energy, economic, technological and regulatory challenges and opportunities in relation to both the energy system and more broadly in relation to resources and biodiversity.
The analysis is presented in a transition report for a major conference in the summer of 2024 in Copenhagen and at round table meetings in Brussels.
