These days, the EU Commission is working on a model for a CO₂-quota system for the agricultural sector.

The EU Commission is considering three models for an emissions trading system (ETS) for this purpose. In this connection, the Green Transition Denmark has published a position paper, with a review of the models and recommendations.

It is the Green Transition Denmark's recommendation that a possible quota system for agriculture be placed at the farm level, as the largest and cheapest reduction potentials lie with the agricultural holdings themselves.
